The Chimes Magazine - November 2018
I have been going to a few markets recently with the New Norcia Bakery products and it has been very enjoyable. Apart from selling out, which is fabulous as I don’t have to heave all the heavy boxes back in the rather decrepit New Norcia van, it is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and tell them all about New Norcia. Many seem unaware that the Benedictine monks have taken the bakery back and now all the products are baked in the original 140 year old wood fired oven – it certainly does impart a delicious taste – Unique. I am happy to let you all know that the Nutcake, Biscotti and Pan Chocolatti are now available at a few Perth outlets again, namely: the Black Truffle in North Fremantle, Fresh Provisions in Mt Lawley and Bicton and My Health Food Store in Booragoon so if you would like to give someone a delectable treat pop down and get some!
The Journal Launch at the Palms in Subiaco was an immensely enjoyable night, it was the 25th Anniversary of the New Norcia Studies Journal so it is fitting that it was the best attended launch so far. As well as the Journal, the third reprint of A Town Like no Other was also launched, a copy of this updated version was given to anyone who bought a journal, a special launch offer! If you would like a copy of either book they are available on our web shop. The full story about the launch is in The Chimes.
Christmas is galloping towards us at huge speed!! We would love you to join us at one of the Christmas services if possible, the Ecumenical Carols is always a lovely occasion with the Georgian Singers’ delightful harmonies making it a profound experience.
This will be the last Chimes of the year – it is time to get on with writing the next edition of the Friends Magazine which will be out in February.
Warm regards to you all,
Lucy Nicholson
