Celebrating the 1920's at the New Norcia Hostel
On Saturday 19th June, the New Norcia Hostel came to life with all things from the roaring 1920's!
40 guests dressed up in 1920's attire and started their evening in the New Norcia Abbey Church, where Fr Robert gave a commentary on the history of the Moser Organ, which was built in Germany in 1922. They were able to explore the inner workings of this magnificent romantic instrument, seeing and hearing its 2,000 pipes in action.
The guests were then greeted at the New Norcia Hostel (also fittingly built in the 1920's) by Carmel Murray and Joyce McKee, enjoying 1920’s French cocktails, followed by a magnificent two-part recital of 1920's music played by Fr Robert on the piano (along with some singing of old favourites) and beautiful food prepared by Abbot John.
Our next music concert, with the theme 'Spring', will be held on Saturday 23rd October. Tickets are $80 all-inclusive and are available from our webshop, but please be quick because numbers are limited.
